Alejandra Martelo RD, LDN, Lead Dietitian

Hello! My name is Alejandra Martelo and I am a registered dietitian. I live in Miami with my husband, daughter, and Siberian husky. I love cooking and grew up learning my country's (PERU) authentic cuisine. I received a bachelor's degree from Florida International University and went on to complete my dietetic internship shortly after graduation. Once I received my dietetics license I began to work in the field of eating disorders. I instantly became passionate about helping others build a better relationship with food, educating on the importance of fueling our bodies and battling society's diet culture. I have worked in various levels of care including residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient.

As I continued to treat eating disorders and disordered eating I noticed an opportunity to learn more about specific populations so I went back to school for a graduate certification in pediatric nutrition. This masters certification was focused on dysfunctional eating at all stages of the life cycle as well as how to fuel the body appropriately before, during, and after pregnancy.

After being diagnosed with celiac disease I have spent a lot of time having fun creating new gluten free recipes! In my free time I also enjoy reading fiction/fantasy books and keeping up with nutrition research!
